Arelion,<\/span><\/a> formerly known as Telia Carrier, has announced that the work of its newest network backbone route extension in Norway has been completed. This new fiber link is aimed to increase the resilience, capacity, and various connections between Norway and the rest of the globe via Continental Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Arelion has issued a grant from the <\/span>Norwegian Communications Authority<\/span><\/a> the contract to develop a new underground Internet route for Norway in July 2020. The purpose of the project was to increase resilience in the case of a catastrophic crisis affecting connection, also to ensure that all the region\u2019s future connectivity demands get fulfilled.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new 750-kilometer fiber link connects major areas like Oslo, Norway, Esberg, Denmark, and then to Arelion\u2019s pan-European network. Bulk Fiber Networks\u2019 OS-IX DC located in Oslo and Bulk Fiber Networks\u2019 N01 DC located in Kristiansand is both new PoPs (Points of Presence) sites. This new is focused to double the region\u2019s available capacity and support additional data center infrastructure which will guarantee the future traffic demands are addressed for years to come.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wavelength, Ethernet, and IP<\/b><\/h2>\n

Elise K\u00a0Lindeberg, Director, Security Department at the Norwegian Communications Authority<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>said,\u00a0 \u201cThis new secure fiber route of electronic communications, which was previously awarded to Arelion, is going to help Norway to address its growing and diverse traffic needs throughout Europe\u201d. She further added it will improve the connectivity security of our nation in the event of serious incidents occurring.<\/span><\/p>\n
