Google Sets Up Digital Assets Team To Ramp Up Blockchain Efforts

Technology giant, Google Cloud launches its digital assets team to explore opportunities in the blockchain domain. With this new development, Google Cloud aims to offer more secure, scalable, and sustainable technological infrastructure to the customers. It also aims to help companies on the journey to digital transformation. 

A recent blog post by Yolande Piazza, Vice President of Google Finacial Services reveals, This new team will enable our customers to accelerate their efforts in this emerging space and help underpin the blockchain ecosystems of tomorrow.” 


What Will The Google Digital Assets Team Do

Google has realized the impact of blockchain technology on the current internet space. In its blog, it says, “ Blockchain technology is yielding tremendous innovation and value creation for consumers and businesses around the world. As the technology becomes more mainstream, companies need scalable, secure, and sustainable infrastructure on which to grow their businesses and support their networks. We believe Google Cloud can play an important role in this evolution.”

Considering all this, the new Digital Assets Team of Google has decided to take on a number of short- and long-term initiatives in order to support organizations in the blockchain ecosystem/digital assets/. This include:

  • Participating in on-chain governance and node validation with select partners.
  • Introduce click to deploy by offering remote procedure call (RPC) nodes/dedicated node hosting for developers to let users deploy blockchain validators on Google Cloud via a single click. 
  • Supporting on-chain governance through participation from Google Cloud executives and senior engineers.
  • Supporting developers and users in hosting their nodes on the cleanest cloud in the industry. 
  • Hosting numerous public BigQuery datasets on our Marketplace, which include complete blockchain transaction history for Ethereum, Bitcoin,  Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Litecoin, Zcash, Theta, Hedera Hashgraph, Band Protocol, Polygon, XRP, and Dogecoin.
  • Supporting the social, environmental, and governance initiatives by developers and users.
  • Supporting combined go-to-market initiatives with our ecosystem partners where Google Cloud can be the bridge between traditional companies and blockchain technologies.
  • Driving co-development and integration into the robust partner ecosystem of Google, including participating in the Google Cloud Marketplace.

As Google works towards building its team, it is also exploring future opportunities to enable its Cloud customers to make and receive payments using cryptocurrencies.
