Cloudflare Introduces New Pricing for Logs and Traces from December 1, 2026
News Published on : October 30, 2026Cloudflare will bring its logs and traces products under one pricing structure on December 1, 2026, as outlined in the company’s Observability documentation. Ingestion and storage will be billed as separate meters, and a single account-level allowance will cover multiple products at the same time.
Products That Share the Allowance
Pooled ingestion and storage allowances apply to Cloudflare Traces, Workers Logs, Workers Traces, Containers Logs, R2 Data Access Logs, AI Gateway logs, and Issues. Instead of being billed for product by product, usage from all of these draws down the same shared allowance.
Free and Paid Plan Limits
| Plan | Included ingestion | Included storage | Additional ingestion | Additional storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0.5 GB per day | Seven-day retention included | Not available | Not separately metered |
| Paid | 50 GB per billing cycle | 10 GB-month per billing cycle | $0.25 per GB | $0.10 per GB-month |

How Usage Is Measured
Ingestion is measured on the event body, the default enriched attributes, and any custom attributes, and the measurement is taken before compression. Dropped events are not counted, so sampling data before it is stored reduces both ingestion and storage usage. Storage is calculated in GB-month by adding up each day’s maximum queryable data in GB and dividing by 30. In practice, 1 GB that remains queryable for 30 days equals 1 GB-month, and data stops counting once it can no longer be queried.
What Changes for Existing Customers
Existing Workers Observability customers on the Free, Pro, and Business plans will be moved to the new pricing automatically on December 1, 2026. Ingestion charges apply only to data received on or after that date. For Paid accounts, data already retained on December 1 begins contributing to storage usage from that day, and nothing is charged retroactively for earlier usage. Enterprise accounts switch when their contract renews, with existing contract terms staying in force until then.
Retention and Log Explorer
Logs and traces covered by the shared allowance are retained for seven days by default. Cloudflare says it plans to add configurable retention periods of 30, 90, and 365 days, though it has not given a date for them.
Log Explorer datasets are priced separately at $1 per GB ingested, with 30-day retention included and no extra charge for queries, dashboards, alerts, or analytics. Their usage does not count against pooled allowances. If you rely on Cloudflare for production traffic, see our guide on what to do when Cloudflare goes down
